The thesis chiefly researched the polysyllabic words in the representative works of Wei,Jin,South and North Dynasty. According to the standard of semantic and grammatical meaning, the writer collected 8022 polysyllabic words. The thesis can be divided into four parts.Part one: the significance and research method of the subjectPart two: The writer gave an exhaustive statistics and full description of the construction and types of the polysyllabic words in the novel of Wei,Jin,South and North Dynasty through the mixed research method of quantity statistics and quality analysis by the detailed analysis of the morphological construction of the polysyllabic words. The writer described the basic features of the polysyllabic words in the novel of Wei,Jin,South and North Dynasty through all kinds of data.Part three: The writer analyzed the new words and new meaning the polysyllabic words in the novel of Wei,Jin,South and North Dynasty. There are 856 new words, 334 of which can not be found in the Chinese Dictionary and 522 of which with examples late than the time. There are 428 words with new meaning, 84 of which can not be found in the Chinese Dictionary and 344 of which with examples late than the time.Part four: The writer summarized the features of the construction and the nature of the polysyllabic words in the novel of Wei,Jin,South and North Dynasty .
