The introduction of a variety of western literary criticism has brought forth new theory and methodology to the Chinese traditional literary criticism since 1980s. Among the various theories, the feminist literary criticism has secured its position as a school of thought with distinctive collective consciousness in China's traditional literary criticism, which cannot be ignored after 20 plus years of development. However, similar to the cases of the propagation and reception of many other trans-regional and trans-cultural academic theories, the understanding and explanation of feminist literary criticism has also experienced the variation process which leads to localization due to the differences in historical tradition, reality and cultural background. Therefore, the analysis of this variation will allow us to find some localized characteristics of Chinese feminist literary criticism that will contribute to its further development.The choice of The Localization Process of Feminist Literary Criticism in China as the topic of my thesis indicates my humble effort in solving some specific problems in the analysis of how the western feminist literary criticism was transplanted in the Chinese cultural soil and what variation and new developments have occurred during this...
