The Dissemination And Development Of Ecocriticism In China: 1999-2005

Ecocriticism is an eminent study of literary theory circles in 21st century, it is revolving a basic premise: human culture has close relation to natural world. It places the literary criticism under the Earth ecosphere context. It is full of vitality because of its unique criticism visual angle and ultimate concern to the humankind's living prospect. At the end of 1990s, the western Ecocriticismtheory was disseminated into China formally, and has gradually formed a trendof times. It also has an important influence on the Chinese eco literaturecreations and literary criticism.This article takes the western Ecocriticism theory as a reference frame, gives an macroscopical whole course tracing to the dissemination of Ecocriticism in China and the development of Chinese Ecocriticism, and offers panoramic show and analysis, then reviews and finds problems, and proposes reflections and countermeasures which can resolve the problems. All these have important realistic significances which can promote the development of Chinese literature creations, renew aesthetic value standards, and reconstruct the Chinese criticism speech, even the Chinese environmental protections. These also can play a certain complement and referent role in the healthy development of Ecocriticism throughout the world.The text is divided into seven parts. The second part expounds the basic connotations and meanings of Ecocriticism. The third part views the appearant reasons and theory foundations of Ecocriticism. The fourth part unscrambles the dissemination course of Ecocriticism in China and analyzes the reason why Ecocriticism can disseminate in China. The fifth and sixth part probe the development of Ecocriticism in China: the construction of Ecocriticism speech, the appearance of eco-literaturecreations, the literature texts studies in the perspective of Ecocriticism. The seven part analyzes the existent problems of Chinese Ecocriticism and looks forward to the forecast of Chinese Ecocriticism.This article considers that Chinese Ecocriticim has gained three remarkable achievements after the western Ecocriticism spreading into China: the construction of Ecocriticism speech, the appearance of eco- literature creations, the literature creations studies in the perspective of Ecocriticism. In fact, these achievements has formed the characteristics of Chinese Ecocriticism. Although there are many problems which must be resolved as soon as possible about Chinese Ecocriticism, it has provided a new visual angle and strategy for equal dialogue between China and West literature criticism, it has become a constituent of Chinese contemporary literature criticism construction.
