Narrative Strategy Of Ge Fei's Novel

Avant garde is a group of writers appearing in the Chinese literary circle in the mid and late 1980's. Under the banner of formalism,these writers initiated a revolution and attempted to overthrow the traditional literary concept in order to restore language-in-itself. The representatives of Avant garde include Ma Yuan,Yu Hua,Su Tong,Ge Fei,Li Zhaoyan,Sun Ganlu etc.This thesis comprises a systematic study on the narrative strategy of the literary works of Ge Fei. First, I would like to point out that"the virtue feelings"is the premise of the strategy for Ge Fei's narration; then I will make comments on the features of his novel's settings and structure. Finally, I summarize his narrative strategy.The conclusion I reached is that Ge Fei renovated the ancient art form by means of changing the novel's narrative strategy, but at the same time he paid special attention to absorb the traditional factors, which makes his works open, rounded and harmonious.During my research into his narrative strategy, I confirmed the role he played in modern literature, and I also pointed out his shortcomings of works properly, meanwhile I lay new hopes on his future works.
