More and more overseas tourists come to China. Accordingly, Chinese tourism is booming. As an effective way to publicize China and promote Chinese tourism, tourism publicities become more and more important. The present paper attempts to apply the information theory and contrastive study to the Chinese-English translation of tourism publicities. Within the theoretical framework set by the author, the author points out the relationship among all the items and then gives a detailed explanation of each factor in the framework. The author finds out that tourism publicities contain one or more kinds of information. To translate different kinds of information, the translator should choose different translating strategies.
