The new poetry took free verse as its creative mode from the day when it came into being. Although contemporary rules and forms of classical poem had some effect on the development of new poetry, it didn't become one of the main streams of the creation in its history. This kind of tradition was inherited by the poets of the contemporary era, while they ignored the attention of rules and forms of classical poem. Because many poets believe the features of modern Chinese-the increase of polyphonic vocabulary, the strengthening of oral tone, the imprecision of grammar and the lack of logicality, obstructed the development of Chinese rules and forms of classical poem.On the basis of what has mentioned above, the author recalls the history of modern rules and forms of classical poem, starting from the aspects of Chinese characters, vocabulary, grammar and verbalization, reveals that contemporary Chinese new poetry has the stroma of rules and forms of classical poem. The author also believes that the rules and forms of classical poem exists its own rationality and value in new poetry.Compared the western letters to the contemporary Chinese characters, there is a huge gap between them. However, Chinese characters also have the constructive stroma of rules and forms of classical poem on new poetry. On the first hand, the characteristic of trinity of Chinese character-tone, form and meaning, is the unique advantage of collocation and rhyme of the poems, with which the alphabetic system can not match. On the other hand, many polysyllables were produced in Chinese vocabulary, while disyllables and monosyllables are till playing a dominator role which provides to the new rules and forms of classical poem homologous on tone, form and meaning. Thirdly, the relaxation of Chinese grammar helps the expression of poetry; it also benefits a lot to the formation and harmonic of the new poetry. The verbalization of contemporary Chinese is a course that has been discussed and improved step by step in the history of poetry, which proves that it was not the obstacle that handicapped in the way during the development of contemporary rules and forms of classical poem.As what has been discussed above, the author firmly believes that contemporary Chinese possesses the stroma of rules and forms of classical poem that new poetry needed, at some degree, we should advocate it in order to strengthen the rational development of poetry.
