In second language teaching, grammar is a critical component of research onteaching materials. The grammar arrangement of good or bad is crucial to the teachingquality. So it is essential to make a study on grammar in the teaching materials.This paper makes a comparison analysis on the grammar choose, division,explaination as well as example sentences in the grammar of <New Practical ChineseReader> and <Contemporary Chinese>, and summarizes the characteristics ofgrammar in the two books, providing reference to preliminary teaching textbookcompile and set up base for the establishment of grammar standardization system inthe teaching materials.This paper is divided into five parts:The first is introduction.It describes the meaning and purpose to the comparisonanalysis on grammar of <New Practical Chinese Reader> and <Contemporary Chinese>, and makes a brief instruction to the two teaching textbooks.The Second Part is Making a comparison analysis of the grammar choose, division,quantity, arrangement, explanation, example sentences quantity, content and difficultydegree between <New Practical Chinese Reader> and <Contemporary Chinese>. Thistwo books is reasonable in the above aspects, which meet learners’ need.The Third Part is making a comparison analysis on repteability and usage conditionbetween the grammar of <New Practical Chinese Reader> and <ContemporaryChinese>. This two books repteability and usage condition fulfills the status of thelearners, at the same time it needs teacher to make adjustment in teaching process toreach better teaching result.The Fourth Part will Point out the editing characteristics of <New Practical ChineseReader> and <Contemporary Chinese>: they divide grammar in class, they havegradation and systematically circulating into deep. They simply the system,highlighting the key-point, combining deduction and induction in grammarexplaination, meanwhile they pay attention to the principles of scientifical,practical,communicative and enjoyable.The Fifth Part draws a conclusion on comparison analysis on the grammar between<New Practical Chinese Reader> and <Contemporary Chinese>, and summarizes thetwo’s compiling characteristics.
