Study On Recording Of Chinese Words In "Contemporary Chinese Dictionary"

As the international status of China has been promoted constantly, the global exchangeand cooperation has become a more and more frequent event. Chinese, one of the mostimportant parts of Chinese language system, has been widely used in Hong Kong, Macao andTaiwan regions even Chinese communities all over the world and has also continuouslyattracted the public’s concern. Meanwhile, a lot of Chinese words have been brought into themainland of China. On the one hand, it can rich the vocabulary of Chinese language, on theother hand, it becomes an obstacle of communication. Although there have been manyresearches about certain Chinese word or the comparative researches about several Chinesewords used in some communities, there’re several ones aims at the collection of Chinesewords in dictionaries. Few of those researches focus on some dictionaries which includesome strongly descriptive words. However, researches about medium Chinese dictionariesincluding Chinese words have heavily been in short. Based on the rules that medium Chinesedictionaries should follow, the dissertation has selected some Chinese words, which aresuitable to be included in other medium Chinese dictionaries in a word list. The dissertationwill be the reference for other related reaches. What’s more, it will facilitate the equal statusof Chinese as some dialects, borrowed words and other common words, so that the overviewof contemporary Chinese can be demonstrated. There’s no doubt that the consequence of thispractice will be profound, such as in the update of compiling theory of Chinese dictionaries,the promotion of Chinese all over the world, the acceleration of the interaction of Chinesecommunities, strengthening of the Chinese’s national sense of belonging and even the raise ofChinese national status.Above is the systematic introduction of the current research status of the collection ofChinese dictionaries and some related theories. Besides, based on the rules that mediumChinese dictionaries should follow, the dissertation will collect some suitable Chinese wordsfrom “Global Chinese Dictionary” by adapting statistic method and analysis of descriptionmethod. Consider ting the political and geographic connection between the Chinese mainlandand Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions and its particularity in Chinese communities, thedissertation shows the attitude towards the collection of Chinese words in these regions. Inaddition, it has also classified words suitable for the collection according to the connection of Chinese and Mandarin.After the analysis, the research suggest that medium Chinese dictionaries should abideby following the principle of pertinence, general, transparence, model, system, reality andregeneration. According these principles, it has collected997Chinese words in total, whichare suitable to be included in “Contemporary Chinese Dictionary”. The143words of thesebelong to the following four genres of word: coinages, replacement, resurrection and update,which derive from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regionsBy the method of comparison, the dissertation has confirmed the rationality of theresearch. The research is scientific and reliable, even though the research is not imperfectbecause of personal restricted knowledge and inadequate papers. The Chinese word list madein the dissertation can be the reference for related researches in future.With the status of Chinese has been constantly raised, its forms has become various.Chinese should be treated with lenience just like variants of English, so that the status ofChinese will be stabilized and the overall strength of Chinese enhanced.
