With the deepening of China's reform and opening up, especially after China's entry to the WTO, more interpreters are needed at all works of life in China. The study of interpretation or interpreting is booming under such circumstances. But so far the focus of interpretation study in China is on its performance rather than its process, which is the most important in interpretation study. Because of this, the paper attaches more importance to the process of interpretation, especially that of simultaneous interpretation. Firstly, the author defines the interpretation and the process of interpretation. In this part, the author puts forward his new ideas about the process of interpretation which can include that in the narrow sense and that in the broad sense. And then, the author introduces the current interpretation theories and the processing models of SI, such as Paris School's meaning-based theory initially driven and inspired by Marianne Lederer and Danica Seleskovitch, and Daniel Gile's effort model in a cognitive management view. In this part, the author analyzes the three stages of the meaning-based theory and suggests the effort distribution in the process of simultaneous interpretation. At last, on the basis of the case study, the author establishes his own new processing model of simultaneous interpretation, namely, they are: 1) the conditional reflex processing model of the message that the interpreter is familiar with, 2) the delayed processing model of the massage that the interpreter is not familiar with, and 3) the making-up processing model of the mistakes or the errors the interpreter makes. However, the usage of these processing models are based on many exercises and practices of simultaneous interpretation, which is the process of interpretation in the broad sense. Only by this can an SI learner become a qualified SI practitioner.
