Since the Opium War, Shanghai had gradually become the national center for publishment and culture dissemination, thus forming a relatively free space for cultural development, which, in turn, had taken on the idea"public field"visualized by Habermas, a famous German thinker. Therefore, through the modern newspapers and periodical in"public media", the intellectuals can exchange views and carry on cultural discussion as well as thought criticism. The monthly magazine of"WENXUN"in later period(June 15 , 1947——December 5 , 1948 ) was compiled under the editorship of the famous poet——Zang Kejia and published in Shanghai, which faced the masses of readers with the criticizing"quasi—Literary Journals"based on thought and culture, promoting the development of Chinese modern philosophy and literature and art, having an acute effect upon the Chinese cultural and academia circles in the latter stage of the forties the 20th century.The article"Prelude"by Zang Kejia clearly indicated the basic position and the guiding principles for building publication of the monthly magazine of"WENXUN"in later period:"We consider that the name of our journal just means'cultural communication', specifically, the main mission of the journal is to report and criticize the cultural tendencies;"and"we even hope that the spirit of the report and critique can permeate each class in our journal"; and also"we are willing to use the ceaselessly aggressive spirit and the patient enthusiasm as well as the persistence of study with a view to reading what we desire."Obviously, the monthly journal"WENXUN"in later period was based on though and culture as well as the critique of social realities, which was the cultural...
