A Study On The New Words System Of Estern Western Monthly Magazine

This research uses the neologisms in Estern Western Monthly Magazine as the mainresearch object. Compared to the Shanghae Serial and Chinese Serial, the neologismsin Estern Western Monthly Magazine is a piece of virgin land that has not been excavated,also has the very high value of vocabulary corpus.Estern Western Monthly Magazine is thefirst modern newspapers in Chinese mainland, which is written by the westernmissionaries. The vocabulary system of Estern Western Monthly Magazine has its obviouscharacteristics of The Times. They are served as a connecting link between thepreceding and the following in the history of Chinese vocabulary. There are two majorcategories in neologisms: the new form and the new semantic. From this twodirections,we will study and analyze these new words, which play a very important partin the history of Chinese vocabulary,also make a great contribution to the dictionaries.Firstly, we briefly introduced the background of Estern Western Monthly Magazineand so on, and also illustrated the research methods and writing ideas. And ithas great significance to the improvement of dictionary.
