This dissertation discusses curriculum development model in translation teaching. Translation teaching, which was formerly a kind of pedagogy for language teaching, became an independent professional teaching field. This new field has features of translation and something traditional in language teaching, but also needs today's modern educational theories as guidance. Curriculum development covers the macro-research on the whole teaching process and plays a vital role as a macro and theoretical guidance, including choosing learning experience, objective setting, syllabus design, teaching material and pedagogy choosing, and education evaluation design etc.This dissertation, first of all, introduces four main models of curriculum development in curriculum studies, English teaching and translation teaching; analyzes their specialties respectively to further explore their advantages and disadvantages in accordance with translation teaching practice. Secondly, it analyzes translator competence and translation competence to conclude the different points and commonness between these two competences in order to find out the directional guidance role of translator competence in translation teaching. Lastly, while introducing the general condition of educational field, it analyzes the features of translation teaching under the constructivism teaching model. Based on the previous discussion in this dissertation, it goes on discussing detailed requirements from translation profession and constructivism teaching, so that we can conclude the specialty of curriculum development in translation teaching.
