On the issue of innate knowledge in modern Chinese history, it wrote a famous controversy between Feng Youlan and Xiong Shili . Mr Feng said that the innate knowledge is assumed that Mr. Xiong think it is a appearing. The paper here hold that innate knowledge is a appearing indeed, and face to text of Wang Yangming on the standposition of the theory of live to interpret the subjects .The concept of innate knowledge comes from Menzi, Wang Yangming hence further enhances it to a ontological concept. Tian Tao is the highest ontological concept in Chinese philosophy . There are two tiers significance of substance : First, from the scene, the truth of the body; Second, the roots of things in the sense of in the same state with Tian tao .Of course, these two aspects are interlinked. Innate knowledge as substance, just bases on the two aspects .It becomes the substance of Tian Tao for both its character of self-known and the same nature with Tian as its own true state.In Yangming's philosophy, innate knowledge as substance, there are three respect meanings : From the system of the heart, it features inherent to the natural rational principles; From the origin of virtue, it is the foundation of becoming sage; From the relation of the heart and the things, that it is the base of the existence of the significance world. Thus, the innate knowledge as substance shows as the natural rational principles and the origin of virtue and base of the existence of the significance world in unity. Innate knowledge is not only the prior substance, but inevitably made by the acquired epidemic, that is to say, the substance of innate knowledge is manifested as a effort of extenting innate knowledge.
