A Study On Self-control Ability Of College Student With Pathological Internet Use

As a sign in the digital time, internet has been applied in many fields, it has expanded the limits of our life, study and work and supplied with much convenience. But the aside-effect of Internet abuse had appeared gradually. Just like other problem behaviors, the behavior of pathological internet use is a kind of impulse control disorder behaviors, a type of psychological dependence on internet use which is aroused by excess use or abuse of internet. The undergraduates are in the most important period of social development, but they have a higher possibility to be addicted to internet because of the special environment around them and the stress appeared during their socialization development. It can make them get into the disorder of psychology and unhealthy mature.So far little research has been conducted on the PIU individual's characteristics of self-control, especially on the relation between PIU and individual's general self-control. And only a little experimental evidence has been supplied on the relation between individual's cognitive characteristics and emotional characteristics.From the respective of individuals' self-control ability and its process, the researcher has examined systemically the PIU individuals' general behavior characteristics and their mental mechanism. The research has been done as the following: first, the undergraduates' self-control ability were measured through related questionnaire; second, the individuals' cognitive and emotional characteristics during self-control process were examined by introducing Two-back working memory task in emotional states and the negative priming in selective attention processing.
