Study On The Tong Yong Zi Of The Ma WangDui Silk Books(马王堆汉墓帛书)

The discovery of the Mawangdui Silk Books (马王堆汉墓帛书) in 1973 is notonly a milestone in the history of archaeology, but offers bundles of significantly invaluable and costful materials for the palaeography study. The Mawangdui Silk Books were excerpted in the period ranging from the end of the Zhanguo Dynasty to early Han Dynasty, but mainly in the Qin and Han Dynasty. So extensive and numerous fields the Mawangdui Silk Books involved that notonly the chronological history of former dynasty or literature of the Zhouyi (周 易) and Laozi (老子), but many rare fork prescriptions were collected. Varyingbetween the Zhuan (篆) and Li (隶) Character, the characters used in theMawangdui Silk Books covered sophisticatedly abnormal and unnumbered special font styles, which are highly valuable and profound for the character study. The research of the characters applied in the Mawangdui Silk Books can benefit the better understanding of these books, further more, it helps to discover the rules of development of the Chinese character. Systemicinvestigation and detailed classification of the Tongjia (通假), Gujin ("古今), Yiti(异体) and wrong characters in the Mawangdui Silk Books are done in this paper.To avoid the confusion of the two conceptions: the Tongjia and Gujin characters, this paper applies the conception Duwei (读为) character to cover them, anddevelops the classification table of the Duwei character to provide an access to the Tongjia and Gujin character.
