Research On College English Curriculum And Teaching Basing On The Reform Of College English Test Four And Six

College English curriculum and teaching touch on the English-studying of the college students, and the technique and skills of solving problems with English, so many universities are paying more attention to the curriculum of English. The primary purpose of having the College English Test is to check the quality and level of English teaching. During all these years, the College English Test has improved the level of English teaching to some extent. However, our society is paying so much more attention to the certificate of CET that English teaching is coming into serving for the Test.College English Test Reform (experimental) was promulgated by the Education Department of China in February, 2005. According to it, College English Test reform has started to implement, the curriculum and teaching of college English should be reconsidered again. Maybe they should be reformed and adjusted too, including: how to adjust the previous college English teaching goals, how to better the curriculum design, how to choose the proper teaching methods and how to connect the teaching and examinations. All of above are the main concerns of this paper. This paper is just to improve the quality of college English teaching and evaluation, to display the function of college English teaching to the maximum extent, to promote the development of college English teaching.The main contents of the paper include:Firstly, the essential purpose of college English teaching should be to improve the college students' English actual utilization abilities. While teaching, we should take the college student as the center, develop their subjective initiatives, make the students active in class, by asking them to self-study and co-operate.Secondly, when we design the college English curriculum, we should arrange it carefully. For example, we may allow the students to study English for all the four years, multiply the applicable courses. Also we can divide the college English curriculum into basic curriculum, improving curriculum and advanced curriculum, with teaching in class and out of class.Thirdly, there is some suggestion about improving the principle of English teaching, reforming the model of English teaching, training the skills of students' self-studying, using the modern and scientific English teaching methods, building up a good college English teachers group.At last, according to the principle, evaluation and assessment, English test reform and administration of college English teaching, there is some suggestion on the college English teaching evaluation.
