The economic diplomacy has great importance in Japan's diplomacy after The Second World War . It promoted the recovery of Japan's economy in 1950s to 1960s , made lasting progress of economy for Japan in 1970s , helped Japan to make"comprehensive defense of peace"in 1980s and today , it plays a big role when Japan tries to attain the goal to become a country which has power in political decision making about the whole world .Southeast Asia is very important in Japan's postwar economic diplomacy. Southeast Asian is rich in resource and energy. As we all know that Japan is an island, which has very little natural resource and a very small market, so it depends on Southeast Asia strongly to supply the resource, energy and the market for exporting products and capital. Southeast Asia possesses a significant position in Japan's economic development strategy. Japan solved the problem of compensation to Southeast Asia after the recovery of sovereignty and supported the founding of East–Alliance in 1960s.In 1977 Japanese Chairman Futian made a speech to set up"heart to heart"relationship with Southeast Asia which is called"Futian Doctrine". The relationship between Japan and Southeast Asia in economy and politics was further strengthened in 1980. Today, Japan also needs Southeast Asia's help to be a member of The United Nations of Security, to make regional and global effect. From all above we can summarize that Southeast Asia and Japan interrelate closely on the way which Japan recovered, prospered it's economy and from a"economic big power"to a"political big power". Japan's Economic Diplomacy to Southeast Asia is a very important aspect of Japan's economic diplomacy and a very major reflecting of Japan's economic diplomacy to developing country. My article basing on the sequence of time will discuss the following subjects:(1) the origin and development of Japan's economic diplomacy to Southeast Asia; (2) the"Compensation Diplomacy"in 1950s and 1960s; (3) the positive economic diplomacy in 1970s,which took"Futian Doctrine"as a turning-point; (4) the economic diplomacy, which took gradual change in politics in 1980s; (5) nowadays, the economic diplomacy, which puts equal important attention in politics.
