In 1914 the First World War broke out,in which the imperialist countries would compete for the world hegemony again. The European powers were involved in the war in succession and later the war was extended to their colonies all over the world.Germany was so busy in the European battlefield that it couldn't pay much attention to East Asia.So Japan declared war on Germany and seized its colony-Qingdao.East Asia was an area of conflict among the powers on the eve of the First World War.In order to permanently possess Qingdao,Japan must consider the attitudes of relevant countries and clear up the obstacles in diplomacy.A series of diplomatic activities were conducted by Japan. The thesis can be divided into three parts:Part One mainly introduces the reasons why Japan sent troops to Qingdao, which include three aspects, namely the background of sending troops to Qingdao, the strategic position of Qingdao, and the comparison of military strength between Japan and Germany and the course of the war between them.Part Two mainly discusses the diplomatic activities of Japan with England,Germany,China,America,Russia and other countries.Part Three gives an evaluation of Japan's diplomatic activities.
