This paper, from both the aspect of foreign students learning Chinese function words and Chinese people using Chinese function words, will use comparative methods to differentiate common similarative function words from three-in-one combination of semantics, grammar and pragmatics. The paper compares and analyses Chinese similarative function words with ways of pragmatics in order to supplement grammatical research. On this basis, attention should be paid not only to usage of function words, but also make account of used meaning, especially pragmatic significance.This paper mainly discusses four problems.The significance of researching similarative function words: In this section, this paper considers the status of function words and their effects within the Chinese language, including function words' effect, proportion, degree of difficulty with regards to teaching foreign students Chinese as their second language and the ways in which Chinese people use function words.The methods of researching similarative function words: This paper differentiates common similarative function words in terms of semantics, grammar, and especially in pragmatics.Analysis of selected concrete examples: The paper chooses and compares four groups of function words: yizhi (一直) and conglai (从来),jihu (几乎) and jianzhi (简直),dan(shi) (但(是)) and que (却),tai (太) and duo (me) (多(么)) .A consideration of the potential benefits of researching similarative function words from the aspects of semantics, grammar and pragmatics: It will be of benefit to teaching students Chinese as a foreign language, teaching function words in modern Chinese language and improving interpersonal skills.
