Qiao Zhang, whose courtesy name Songnian or Boqian, lived in the period of Emperor Yizong in the Tang Dynasty. He was born in somewhere around Hang Zhou, Zhejiang province. Before he lived in seclusion in the Jiuhua Mountain, he had read in the Lushan and sold off his former residence to move to the Xuan Zhou city of Anhui province for some reasons.Before he lived in seclusion, he had already traveled all over his country ,made friends with people from different classes, including foreigners, and poetized a lot in searching building up establishment. Among his cotemporary friends , Xunhe Du canonized him :'lots of elegant poems can be others' mirrors", Gu Zheng praised him :"Lately ,so many poets has changed his poem style to ancientry after him ", Zhiyuan Cui ,the poet of Xinluo ,cried up him :"How could Langxian be better than Songnian ? " Later generations also commented on him :"The poem style is elegant and unparalleled." Nowadays, some famous scholars also think Qiao Zhang's poems are more outstanding than Daojia. Qiao Zhang was not only particular on the themes he chose and the skill he used in his poems, but also particular for his various identities: one of the group who failed his examination that was the way to be a member of the upper class; one of ten first rate poets in the country who were called "Xian Tong Shi Zhe" of the Tang Dynasty; one of the smartest men in South-eastern China; one of the four excellent artists who lived around the Jiuhua Mountain....Though Qiao Zhang was an outstanding poet for his contemporizes, he was...
