| Aesthetics translation is an art to combine translatology with aesthetics. As an important theory in translation studies, translation aesthetics uses the basic theory and structural framework of aesthetics to explain the mechanism and function of translation. It is best applied in literary translation for it can help maximize aesthetic representation in the target text. This report intends to explore how the artistic images are represented in the process of literary translation. For this purpose, the translator translated for practice the first to third chapter of History of Wolves, which is rich in rhetoric, varied in language expression, and diversified in western culture. This report analyzes the aesthetic reproduction of the imagery constituent and non-imagery constituent of the aesthetic object(the original novel)from the perspective of aesthetic subject(the translator). To deal with the imagery constituents, the strategies employed in translation include word selection, reconstruction of sentence patterns, omission and amplification as well as the use of rhetorical devices. As for the imagery constituents, the translator resorts to the strategy of maximizing the original text by rationalizing aesthetic consciousness, thus overcoming language and cultural differences, and reproducing the literary quality and expressions.Based on the influencing factors of artistic representation in literary translation as regards the aesthetic object and aesthetic subject, this report reveals that the reformulation in sentences, the magical use of rhetoric, and the literal translation of the cultural elements can help overcome the difficulties of translation, and therefore effectively improve the aesthetic reproduction of the translation, making the translation version better understood and loved by the target audience. |
