The Awakening Of Chinese Mother Tongue's Educational Consciousness

Mother tongue, the first language, or the native language, once it is mastered it is of complement each other with thinking. It is not only the tool of communication and social intercourse, but also is the special intermediary by which it can transmit national consciousness and pass on the national culture. Education about mother tongue is vital important to the healthy development of personality and nationality.The content of our archaic Chinese education is abundant. But the consciousness of mother tongue's education is chaos. It is tightened with the education of Confucian ethic and moral. Our senior persons had done thousands of years' education, but had been not aware of the important value of mother tongue's education in the development of personality and nationality.Subject Chinese, which is the one curriculum of elementary education, is the main position of Chinese mother tongue's education. Looking back last one hundred years, we can see the awakening of Chinese mother tongue's educational consciousness from the independence of "Chinese literature", writings in the vernacular going into junior and senior textbooks, the definition of the curriculum's name "Chinese", and the establishment of Chinese curriculum's character. The education of mother tongue has gone across hardship, the consciousness of mother tongue's education is awakening.Chinese curriculum standards embody the national will. They also reflect national educational policy and educational ideal. In this thesis I want to explain the awakening course of mother tongue's education from the curriculum standards and teaching outlines those are modified and changed in recent one hundred years.
