Recently, English teachers in China pay more and more attention to oral English instruction. However, the current situation is not very satisfying. Affective factors are easily ignored in instruction, and learners fail to employ affective strategies in English learning. The characteristics of task-based language learning decide that it's a good pedagogy to help learners to develop affective strategies.This thesis is mainly about how to develop affective strategies in task-based oral English instruction. After the analysis of the influence of affective factors in oral English instruction, it points out that it's useful for learners to employ affective strategies in language learning. Since task-based language teaching encourage learners obtain language skills in fulfilling kinds of tasks, I think it plays a great role in developing learner's affective strategies. Based on the characteristics of the task-based language instruction and oral English instruction, the thesis offers a new mode of task-based oral English instruction. It explicates how to develop learners' affective strategies in designing, performing, and evaluating tasks in oral English instruction. It also offers some references for further research on affective strategies.
