With the release of the College English Curriculum Requirement (For Trail Implementation ), the aim of college English teaching is to cultivate student's comprehensive English skills, especially listening and speaking skills, so that they can exchange information properly in both written and spoken English in their future work and social life. However, the existing system in college oral English teaching can not reach a satisfactory outcome, which shows a need in the reform of oral English teaching in college. In recent years, parliamentary debate, which is organized be Beijing Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, has become a very influential oral English competition in China. Different from traditional English speaking contest, parliamentary English debating competition focus on the meaning expression and enjoys a great popularity among college English teachers and students. The purpose of this thesis is to check out student's attitude and feedback towards task-based language teaching with the special case-parliamentary debate. This study used the thirty debaters in English debating team of Xidian University as the subjects to conduct a quantitative research. They were trained for a whole year and were given a questionnaire. A pre-test and a post-test were also conducted to examine the learning effect. The result shows that students had positive attitudes towards task-based language teaching. They participated in the task actively and showed great interests and affection towards parliamentary debate. During the process of accomplishing tasks, students could actively prepare for debate outside class and review the whole task to improve their language and expression skills every time, which rarely occurs in other regular oral English classes. What's more, students even want to continue the communicative activities after the task.
