Research On "个" In The Structure Of "Verb+'个'+Adj/Verb"

"个"is a classifier , which is frequently and widely used in modern Chinese."个"has many features such as wide expressions , varied grammatical functions , high frequency of use and so on . Many linguists have related the history of"个"and its developments , and their work has been fruitful . However , the present study about"个"in phrase"V+'个'+ Adj / V"is still in a vague condition , and there are still some difficult problems to resolve .Adhering to the principles of synchronism and diachronism , this paper analyses the development of"个",then we reach the conclusion that the functions of"个"is developing . In view of the feature of"个", we reach the conclusion that"个"has made its structure to be noun phrase through the analysis of"个"in phrase"V+'个'+ Adj / V".This paper tries to classify"个"into three kinds ---个1(as a content word ) ,"个3"(as a funtion word )and"个2"(the one between个1 and个3) .We make the classify by its degree of grammaticalization and the grammatical functions. Meanwhile , in the teaching of Chinese language as a foreign language, the study of"个"should run through from the elementary courses to the intermediate and advanced courses. The teacher should lead the foreign students step by step to acquire the knowledge of"个"from easy problem to difficult problem . These series of researches has interpreted the role of"个"in phrase"V+'个'+ Adj / V"in syntax,semantic and pragmatics , which develops further the research of"个".By the means of comparison , this paper is based on abundant language facts , we discuss the"个"in phrase"V+'个'+ Adj / V"in modern Chinese language , attempting to interpret the type rationally , in order to grasp the nature of essential characteristic of classifier and consummate the category of classifier further .
