At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, the music-accompanied dance system was slightly advanced on the base of that of Sui Dynasty. In AD627-649 and AD713-756, there were two peaks in Tang Dynasty — respectively Rule under Emperor Zhengguan and Flourishing Age in Kaiyuan Time, during which the country was prosperous and the people was powerful, with a large territory. The frequent cultural and artistic exchange boosted dance development and it was the artistic peak time in Tang Dynasty, and even in the whole old china. Music-accompanied dance against this background experienced a process of inheritance, assimilation, fusion and creation.Tang Dynasty is a glorious era for old China music-accompanied dance. It was an unprecedented time with the most patterns, the fullest variety and the finest classification. There were aulic dances combining etiquette and appreciation, skillful and exquisite performing dances, religious dances to entertain both the man and the deity, flourishing folk dances and dancing opera and so on, among which the Da Qu which incorporated song, poem, dance and music in one entity especially represented the peak of the old China music-accompanied dancing art.The music-accompanied dance occupied an important place in the related arts in Tang Dynasty and imparted a significant influence both home and abroad. It sufficiently deserves attention in the artistic history of the Chinese music-accompanied dance and even the whole artistic history.This article gives a tentative assorting and research of the music-accompanied dance in the Tang Dynasty, trying to probe into it from multi-perspective and multi-dimension so as to reproduce the basic historic features of the music-accompanied dance in Tang Dynasty when it was the most blooming in old China and its place and contribution in the old China music-accompanied dance history and the world one can be better recognized.
