As we all know that life is the eternal subject of literature. Different writers have different understanding of it. Two famous writers, Guo moruo in China and Kawabata Yasunari in Japan, both explained and deducted the essence of life in there works. The paper tries to compare and analyse the different or similar life consciousness in their works based on the novels of Guo moruo when he was in Japan and Kawabata Yasunari, and to reveal all kinds of factors that caused the similarities and differences. As for the intrinsic factors, their special experiences and perceive of the life resulted from their life courses, life circumstances, ideas, characters, and sentiments of taste; As for the exterior factors, the cultural factors and tendency of the taste between the Chinese and the Japanese affected them. The reciprocity of the intrinsic and exterior factors caused the resonance and impact of both of their life consciousness.This paper will discuss on three aspects. Firstly, space-time of life, which discusses the relations between life, time, nature and cosmic. Guo moruo and Kawabata Yasunari both knew that life couldn't part from time, nature and cosmic, which shows the Orientale's life consciousness that spirit is correspond to substance. However, the relations between spirit and substance are different because of different culture and character. Secondly, state of life, which addresses that both writers understood the freeness, loneliness, tragedy and sadness in life, so they resonate with each other. Then this part goes on to analyze the difference between Guo moruo's anxiety and confessness and Kawabata Yasunari's denseness and grief. so as to analysis the difference between Guo moruo's enterprising consciousness and Kawabata Yasunari's nihility consciousness. Thirdly, utmost of life. It studies their comprehensions about inevitable death in life. They both saw through life and death, but Guo moruo thought that death was sad while Kawabata Yasunari thought that death was beautiful. Through researching and appreciating life consciousness in their novels, it helps to probe deeply into the different understandings of a series of such life problems of writers and articles bred in different culture.so as to impulse the cultural exchanges between Chinese and Japanese.
