Globalization is upon us in several respects and culture is just one. This thesis will pay great attention to the cultural globalization. It tries to remind people of the serious conditions of many Third World cultures, including Chinese culture, during the cultural globalization process. The inequality of political powers and economic developments between Western and Third World will inevitably be shown in the exchange of cultures. The strong cultures will undoubtedly have an advantage over the weak ones. So it holds the view that diversity is the character of the world culture and all cultures should fight against the cultural hegemony, especially the comparatively weak cultures. They should strive for their cultural identity and the equal cultural position in the world. This thesis first discerns the significance and necessity of CE literary translation in the cultural globalization context. We Chinese must take into consideration the problem how to enlarge our cultural influence in the world and protect Chinese cultural identity. Translation, as a channel of cultural exchange, is greatly affected by the cultural imbalance. In China, there is a strong imbalance between cultural input and output of concrete cultural products, which goes against the dream of making the world get in touch with Chinese culture. Consequently, this thesis thinks while inputting foreign cultural products, Chinese should pay more attention to the output of their own cultural products. To be exact, the Chinese people should stress more emphasis on the translation of Chinese modern literary works. The key point is how to retain the speciality of Chinese culture. In the traditional translation theory, translators were always regarded as"servants"and demanded honesty not only to the author but also the readers. In other word, they are expected to be"invisible". However, owing to the differences between languages and cultures, the limitations of the nature of translation and the instability of meanings, it is difficult for translators to be faithful completely to the original and erase the influence of their own initiative awareness. In all activities, human being is the first and most important factor. It is true in the translation activity. So the study of translators'subjectivity should be paid attention to.This thesis will first state the cultural globalization context of the study, then define translators'subjectivity. According to the comparison between translators'traditional status and their present one, it comes to a conclusion that translators'subjectivity has been established in the present translation study.Because of the nature and significance of literary translation as well as the Chinese cultural mission of outputting their own cultural products, CE literary translation calls for full representation of translators'subjectivity. In this situation, the thesis studies the subjectivity represented by CE literary translators in five respects. They are the selection of the source text, adoption of translation strategy, multi-criteria of translation, cultural awareness and a disputable new translation method, which is recomposed translation. During the whole study, the thesis insists on one important principle, which is to serve this output of Chinese cultural products.
