The translation report bases on translation of A Reader's Guide to the Contemporary English Novel. The book is a work of literary criticism. The author of the book makes comments on idea and content, language character of works and makes comments on writing styles and other aspects of English contemporary novelists from 1930 s to 1960 s,which is meaningful for Chinese scholars to study western literary works. The report focuses on translation of introduction part and the part of Beckett in the book. The whole translation process is finished under the guidance of translator's subjectivity. In this translation report, translator concludes practicable translation strategy and translation techniques for literary criticism translation under the theory of translator's subjectivity, hoping to offer reference for whole translation work.Combining with concrete examples, translator analyzes translation strategy of domestication and other translation techniques in the whole translation process from aspects of intended readers and inter-subjectivity of translation, the purpose is to achieve a qualified translation work and to meet requirements of readers. The report still has limitations. The translator only studies translation of two parts in A Reader's Guide to the Contemporary English Novel, there are still other parts that can be researched, and the translator's subjectivity theory also relates to intertextuality in expression phase, which is worth to be studied in the future.
