Comparing to the other novelists, Lu Yao has not a high position in the history of contemporary Chinese literature, although he has a great deal of readers. Especially to his novel The Ordinary World, which has been read widely in the readers. What is the reason? The text tries to analyze the value and the meaning of his novel further from the angle of the spiritual characteristic.The paper holds "Self-discipline and Social Commitment" is two basic spiritual characteristics. The paper consists of three parts: the introduction , the body and the conclusion. The introduction generalizes the process of the novel creation, the resonance of the works and its dilemma in the contemporary Chinese literature history. The body contains two parts:From the external and internal reasons, the first part talks about the forming of the creation spirit, mainly in the analysis of the material by using the influential method in the comparative literature. In the external reasons, the article tries to explore in multi-angles and valuble ways.Therefore it can make up for some drawbacks of previous research .It tries to analyze the Confucian culture, provincial culture,...
