In this paper the author analyzed the errors of the junior stage overseas Indonesian students of Chinese origin who acquire the third tone of by-syllable of Mandarin, and provide some suggestions on teaching Chinese as the second language.The result of this research indicates that when the junior stage overseas Indonesian students of Chinese origin listen to the by-syllable of the third tone, it exists serious errors, especially in the group of 3+2, which appears to occur most frequently. And they are easily confused the third tone and the second tone both in the former one and the latter one. When pronounced the third tone of by-syllable of Mandarin, there are some differences between the junior stage overseas Indonesian students of Chinese origin and the Chinese native students.
