The Research Of Family Mei In XuanCheng Areaduring The Period Of The Song And Qing Dynasty

As one of the most famous families in Southern Anhui during the period of the Song and Qing dynasty, Family Mei was the most glorious and bureaucratic. The Family Mei made great influence not only on our country but also on the others .Just as the other bureaucratic families, the family Mei was affected by the political, economic, military, cultural and local factors in the long development of history. Therefore, the offspring of family Mei had their own characters because of the differences of areas. According to Wanling Meishi Family Tree Record and Wenfeng Meishi Family Tree Record , Family Mei is not native. Its ancestor was MeiYuan from WuXing in the period of Wu Dai(called HuZhou in ZheJiang nowdays). He was an officer in Xuan Cheng in the late Tang dynasty, and he decided to move to Xuan Cheng in his life. Family Mei had three branches when they were in the fourth generation, named"Mozhuang, Zhangwu and Shanjin". During Jia-Tai stage in the Song dynasty, the famous poet Mei Yaocheng's indirect offspring who was his brother's grandson changed his dwelling house from Boshan temple to BoJian Mountain which is 35 km away from the southeast of Xuancheng. The areas from the foot of BoJian mountain to the tomb of Mei Wenting were the living spaces for Taiqigong's offspring, and this branch was called"Family Mei of Bojian Mountain WenFeng". Between the period of the late Yuan dynasty and the early period of Ming dynasty, the Family Mei who lived in the downtown of Xuan Cheng moved to Bojian Mountain, Shuidong, Guxi County and so on because of the wars. During the Wanli stage of the period of the Ming dynasty, the Family Mei thrived again because Mei Shoude and others in the Family Mei were being officers in the imperial examination system, particularly, the offspring of Mei Shoude and Mei Wending were more famous in the Family Mei.
