A Tentative Survey Of The Unofficial History In Later Period Of The Qing Dynasty

In Chinese traditional history, the authorized history and the unofficial history are the indispensable two types of material at the process to research the history, which establish the mansion of historiography. Therefore, the unofficial history holds the extremely important status. It is not only one form of folk historical culture, it also is a history cultural phenomenon and an important part of Chinese historical inheritance.The later period of the Qing dynasty is the final stage of Chinese feudal society to the development of the unofficial history. In this period, wherever in politics, economy, culture or other fields all produce many new problems, which different from the earlier period and intermediate stage of the feudal society. So if we want to study the history of this period, we should master a plenty of historical data, especially the unofficial historical material that are the important source to study the history of the Qing dynasty. The latter period of the Qing dynasty is the eventful time, so the unofficial history records more about the historical events and the unofficial history obtains the rapid development. The Reform Movement of 1898 is one of the significant historical events in the later period of the Qing dynasty. This thesis takes the Reform Movement of 1898 as a center and discusses the unofficial history in later period of the Qing dynasty systematically.The thesis summarizes the basic situation of the unofficial history, including the unofficial history origin, the connotation and the forming and developing process. It introduces the existence historical background, the sequence of development, the value and the characteristics of the unofficial history in later period of the Qing dynasty systematically. Finally, taking the unofficial history record of the Reform Movement of 1898 as the center, analyzing the material situation, the category and its the special value and the characteristic of the unofficial history, discovering the individuality and summing up the general character of the unofficial history in later period of the Qing dynasty from the Reform Movement of 1898.
