With clearer awareness of translation study as an independent subject by people in recent years, a number of theoretical explorations of the translation have been progressed accordingly. Among the discussions related to the translation studies is the discussion on the identity and status of the translator, which is arousing an increasing attention among the people. With the"cultural turn"in the translation studies, people have discussed the subject about the translator in a more diverse way. However, the present studies on the subjectivity of the translator are overwhelmingly oriented towards literary translation. Under this circumstance, this thesis raises the question of studying the subjectivity of the translator in a type of non-literary translation, namely audiovisual translation.This thesis consists of six chapters. In the first chapter, the author mainly brief on the theme and structure of this thesis. Chapter two focuses on the historical review of translator studies, illustrating the ignorance of translator's role in traditional translation studies and its reason, ever-increasing attention to translator after cultural turn and connotation of translator's subjectivity; chapter three focuses on Skopostheorie, which is aimed at setting up a sharp contrast to the traditional perspective, and probes into the translator's subjectivity explained in Skopostheorie; chapter four deals with audiovisual translation. It starts with the definition and history of audiovisual translation. Then two types of audiovisual translation are discussed, namely dubbing and subtitling. In view of time and money expense, nowadays, most home video producers choose the form of subtitling rather than dubbing. The last section of this chapter focuses on the specific features, technical properties and constraints of audiovisual translation. Chapter five explores the manifestation of translator's subjectivity by analyzing the translation of colloquialism and cultural-specific terms, which are typical features of audiovisual translation. This chapter also explores the restriction on the translator's subjectivity. In the last chapter, the author summarizes the above chapters in an explicit way and come to a conclusion.
