The Ottomanism Under The Turkish Modern Transition

Ottomanism is kind of nationalism coming into being in the late period of Ottoman Empire. It came originally from the nationalism in the west. Therefore, the political contents of ottomanism bone typically the features to establish a nation community. But considering the birth, development and perish of ottomanism with its profound background historically and culturally. It is a doctrine aiming to maintain a multicultural Empire by nationalism. Thus, ottomanism also had specialty viewing its times, geography and culture. From the course of ottomanism, it usually existed together with other thoughts in the late period of Empire, especially it once acted as the main thoughts with Turkism in the times of Turkey youth party's autocracy, with is hard to tell. Through scientifically analysis, we find that the cause of misunderstanding is that compared with Turkism, most people know less about ottomanism, or in other words ,we still haven't completely known the historic features of ottomanism.The thesis tries to revivify the original features of ottomanism, using the general theory of nationalism, together with historical method to analyze and distinguish ottomanism from other thoughts, to correct some misunderstanding and do academic contribution to the research of ottomanism.
