Researches suggested the number of younger suicide was increasing by years. For the cause of death, suicide has become one of the three important reasons. Suicide or attempt suicide has been the common phenomena in the university campus in recent years Suicide has become the first reason for the college students' accidental death. Therefore, it is of important significance to study college students' suicide ideations and their affecting factors, to find the high-risk group of suicide ideation, and then to take them as early signals of suicide to intervene timely so as to reduce the suicide rate among college students. Based on the "diathesis-stress"model which proposed by Mann in 1999, the depression and hopelessness as stress factors , the impulsiveness and trait anxiety as diathesis factors , the research analyzed the influence of the impulsiveness, trait anxiety, depression, and hopelessness on suicide ideation. With multistage stratified random cluster sampling method ,We tested 608 college students in Hubei province by the tool of the suicide ideation scale amended by ourselves and other questionnaires The data were analyzed with SPSS11.5 and LISREL18.30 statistical software. There were several conclusions:1. The suicide ideation scale has good reliability and validity after its amendment..2. The total incidence of suicide ideation in university students is about 9.04%.There were significant difference on Trait anxiety, depression and hopelessnessbetween the students without suicide ideation and the students with suicide ideation, (P<0.01), but there was no significant difference on impulsiveness. Some important demographic variables have effects on suicide ideation of college students. Gender, grade, satisfy of major and achievement can prominent predict the overall score of suicide ideation.3. Relationships among some variables were explored. The result of the Structure Equation Model's test indicated depression and hopelessness can remarkably boost students' suicide ideation; impulsiveness and trait anxiety can not predict suicide ideation significantly; significantly positive correlation was found between trait anxiety, depression and hopelessness. Finally, Suggestions from the results of this study were provided for school counsellors. Some topics for future research were also indicated.
