Text analysis is one of the branches of linguistics, which has been developed in recent years. With the development of text analysis, the focus of language study has changed from the word, the sentence to the text. Translation is a process that operates on texts (rather than words or sentences) and hence its products also need to be studied within the framework of text analysis. The thesis is intended to contrast English tourism texts (hereafter ETTs) and Chinese tourism texts (hereafter CTTs) from the perspective of text analysis, with brief introductions to attractions as corpus data, in hope of finding the similarities and differences of textual properties between them which include thematic progression, cohesion, functions and tenor and exploring the effective translation strategies for the Chinese-English translation of tourism texts. Six translation strategies are presented with examples. They are literal translation, concentration, amplification, omitting, recasting, and rewriting. It is hoped that these translation strategies will be of help to solve the translator's problems.
