A Study Of The Structure Of Adverbial Modifier In The Analects

This study makes a systematic arrangement of the structure of Adverbial Modifier in The Analects, from syntactic, semantic and pragmatic perspectives. This thesis includes the preface, the conclusion, and the body which is divided into three chapters.In the preface, the author tells the reasons of choosing this topic, introduces the theories and principles guiding the writing of this paper, the definition of the structure of Adverbial Modifier and the versions this paper follows.Chapter One describes the Adverbial composition, core composition, Adverbial Modifier composition and syntactic function of this structure, from the perspective of syntactic level.Chapter Two analyzes Adverbial's semantic orientation, semantic relationship between adverbial and core, semantic selection of adverbial and core, from the semantic perspective.Chapter Three illustrates the structure of Adverbial Modifier, and makes some suggestions to pragmatism of postponed adverbial modifier.The last part is the conclusion.
