The "citizenship"of ancient Athens is an important political concept in the history of Greek. It is of critical significance to the research and expatiation of Greek polis in its political system, social life, running of economy etc. Based on a comprehensive analysis of the concept citizenship, in conjunction with the research results of other classical writers and scholars, the paper explores the Greek community, in particular the origin of the citizenship issues in Athens.The study was based on the internal coherence of historical process; that is agreement with the orderly development of history, intent and coherence. This study is on the assumption that citizenship is the product of long-term development of the Attica region, and on the basis of the argumentation of this assumption this study analyzes the stage characteristics of the development of citizenship.This paper is composed of four parts: introduction, text, appendices and references. There into text is divided into seven chapters.Chapter 1 discusses the occurrence of the right phenomena during the period of Mycenaean civilization, mainly the religious origin of the right phenomena in Mycenaean civilization. Based on the analysis of the religious culture and convention of early Greek community (clan, ethnic compatriots, tribal), this paper discusses the profound impact religious sacrifice activities have on political life and considers that the faith of the ancients and the sacrifice of ancestors got the whole family together next to the altar is the important origin of individual rights and public organizations and also closely related to the original rights and obligation, ownership and succession.Chapter 2 and 3 discuss the symbiosis of Athens Citizenship and early states of Athens mainly about the "germination" of citizenhood, "People's Assembly" and "Council of Elders" in Homer period and the development and influence of private ownership during the process of unification in Attica region.Chapter 4 and 5 mainly analyze the relationship between the innovation of democracy and the development citizenship in Athens, treating of citizen's ownership of land and political participation, the registration system and maintenance of citizenship.Chapter 6 discusses the fact that women do not have citizenship and explores the reasons why women were marginalized in Athens civil and political system.Chapter 7 goes to the conclusion.
