A study is made on the phonetic system of Tay-Nung languages in Vietnam of Chinese origin from the point view of historical comparative linguistics. Based on the comparative study on the phonetic system between Tay-Nung languages of Chinese origin and the Middle Chinese, an elementary analyze is made to the origin and historical levels of the borrowed words from Chinese.This paper is presented in 5 major parts: the 1st chapter offers a general introduction of the peoples and language situation of Tay-Nung in Vietnam and also makes a comment on the present research situation; the 2nd chapter is a comparative study of initial consonants between Tay-Nung languages of Chinese origin and the Middle Chinese; the 3rd is a comparative study of vowel system between Tay-Nung languages of Chinese origin and the Middle Chinese; the 4th chapter is a comparative study of tones between Tay-Nung languages of Chinese origin and the Middle Chinese; and the 5th chapter is the conclusion.
