The Translator's Aesthetic Psychology In Translation

Translation is considered as one of the most importantcommunicative activities of human beings. Within the recent fifty years,great achievements have been made in the field of translation study.Various scientific research achievements have been introduced intotranslation study, endowing translation with scientific vitality. The authorof this thesis combines Aesthetic Psychology with translation study, andexplores the translator's aesthetic psychology in translation.As for any interdisciplinary studies, the first academic topic is: is itpossible for the combination between the present subject and othersubjects? Therefore, by the first step, the author of this thesis explores thenecessity and possibility of the amalgamation of translation study andAesthetic Psychology in two aspects in Chapter 1.In Chapter 2 and Chapter 3, the translator's aesthetic psychology isexplored in static perspective. In Chapter 2, the author does somepreparatory work for the exploration of the translator's aestheticpsychology, that is, to list the indispensable structural elements for theoccurrence of the translator's aesthetic psychology. In Chapter 3, theindispensable psychological elements, which operate upon themechanism of the structural elements, are introduced. These psychological elements of the translator's aesthetic psychology mainlyinclude the translator's aesthetic need, the aesthetic ideal and the aestheticability. The aesthetic ability can be roughly concluded as aestheticperception and sensation, aesthetic feeling, aesthetic imagination andaesthetic understanding.The process of the translator's aesthetic psychology is surely adynamic one. Therefore, a tentative overall mode of the translator'saesthetic psychology is put forward in Chapter 4. The phases of the modeare roughly depicted, and distinctive features of the mode are describedsubsequently as being integrated, being hierarchical and being dynamic.In the conclusive part, the author has a review of the whole thesis,indicating the complexity and the significance of the exploration of thetranslator's aesthetic psychology in translation.
