The thesis intends to give an analysis on the Lyric Piecesis of Grieg from several aspects of musicology.The paper will be divided into three chapters. The fast chapter not only discusses the styles of Lyric Pieces, which displays at least four clear stylistic tendencies including Romanticism, Nationalism, Impressionism and Realism but also deals with the analysis on music itself in terms of the style of type and the characteristics that music reflects (melody, harmony, rhythm, tonality, construction, etc). At last, we get the conculsion that the styles of Lyric Pieces have traits of multiplicity, which use "natural beauty" as major ride through out. The second chapter will give a cultural interpretation from the aspects of social and history background (including his own background, life environment and social situation) and social ideology (including Romantism concept going deep into, Norway folk music edifying, opening and enlightening of impressionist precursor and the influence by other artistic thought.) It also dicusses the deep culture that Lyric Pieces contains as well as the impact of complicated cultural environment over Grieg's creation. And in the last chapter have been discussed the main points of performance. The author will give her own idea on handing melody, rhythm, harmony, texture and pedal.Grieg's Lyric Pieces, produced under the influence of the social and history environment, the cultural atmosphere and the artistic thought in his age reflects the indelible trace of the development of society and the nation in terms of forms and contents. More importantly, he brings all these elements into his own feeling, which enable people to feel his deep feelings and love to life and natural and thus create emotional resonance. The paper, focusing on Grieg's Lyric Pieces illustrates its status, significance and artistic characteristics in the history of piano pieces and further reveals and discusses the cause of cultural formation. Moreover, the paper discusses the mian points of performance for the benefit of the better study and performance of it.
