As a kind of life philosophy, the essence of Confucianism is life and the purposeof Confucian life education is to achieve personality through self-cultivation andpromoting life state. Self-cultivation represents the plasticity of life, and themetaphysical state represents the ultimacy of life. Self-cultivation is vital wisdom andculture as well as state is vital consciousness and spirit. Self-cultivation andpromoting state bring out the best in each other in the daily life. Physical state andmetaphysical state, state and cultivation, wisdom and sophrosune, stain andearthliness, they are interpenetrated. These philosophies of Confucianism still haverealistic significance and value today. The key to excavate the significance and valueof Confucianism lies in the establishment of the essence of Confucianism. In ouropinion, it is meaningless to over-emphasize the ideology (such as Tao-tung, Pan Jiaoetc.) of Confucianism in modem society. We should carry forward its essential andlifeful theories to promote cotemporary life education. In fact, the life education inChina mainland is seriously lagging, and as the excellent inheritance of our nation,Confucian culture has not been valued which should have. Therefore, we needthorough study how to carry forward the essence of Confucian life philosophy.
