The theory of equivalent translation put forward by American scholar Eugene Nida is considered an important theory in guiding translation. The essence of this theory is to reproduce the closest natural equivalent message of the source language in the receptor language, both in terms of meaning and in terms of style. It is out of question that translation, as one of the key media of intercultural activities, plays a very important role. It displays a new view for the target language readers. But because of the culture differences, there are inevitably side effects on equivalent translation. So it is hard for the translator to balance the yardstick of equivalent translation. They are either too conservative or too open in dealing with what is being translated and their translation may turn out to be either unreadable or unfaithful.Nevertheless, according to Nida's"dynamic equivalence", it is not impossible to find solutions and promote the skills and techniques during the process of culture transforming in order to make the original cultural information reappeared, and realize the equivalent translation. What is worth mentioning is that Chinese culture is so broad-minded that while striving to keep and spread its own characteristic features it also welcomes all kinds of nutrition from foreign cultures in order to enrich its own culture and to understand others'better. With the acceleration of globalization, culture amalgamation has become an inevitable trend. The barrier of culture difference to translation will be gradually removed, and the transformation between English and Chinese will become smoother and smoother, and equivalent translation will be no longer a dream.
