This is a translation project report. The source text comes from Chapter three of The Upside of Stress, written by Kelly Mc Gonigal,Ph D,who is a health psychologist and lecturer at Stanford University, and a leading expert on the mind-body relationship. It shows a way how to deal with stress and even transfer it into impetus and energy. The book is divided into two major parts: The first part is telling us to rethink stress and the second part provides us ways to transfer stress into energy. The report consists of five chapters: Chapter One is a brief introduction of project background, significance and structure.Chapter Two introduces the source text. The text is a social science book aiming to help people get out of stress. Therefore,as translating, translators should pay attention to readers' acquisition.Chapter Three is about the functional equivalence theory. The theory focuses on readers, which is consistent with the analysis of the source text.Chapter Four discusses difficulties, which is brought by the difference of thinking modes of the two languages and some complex sentences in English, occurring in translating and corresponding solutions. The last chapter concludes some experiences.
