Based on overviews of former researches and interviews with psychological experts, this study advanced the theoretical hypothesis of procrastination. According to the investigation of open-ended questionnaire and interviews with college students, we compiled the Preliminary Questionnaire of the Undergraduates' Procrastination, and through the initial test and revision, the formal Questionnaire was formed. Through the investigation of procrastination of 694 college students and of relations between procrastination and mental health of 127 college students, we reached the results as follows:(1) The self-designed questionnaire of undergraduates' Procrastination was of high reliability and validity. It could be used as an evaluative implement on undergraduates' Procrastination. We found 8 dimensions through exploratory factor analysis: indecisiveness, delay of behavior, lack of responsibility, self-denigration, inferiority, poor time management, negative life manner and anxiety. And the empirical model basically fit the theoretical hypothesis.(2) In the overall types of procrastination, significant differences of the undergraduates' procrastination were found in grade and speciality. The scores of the juniors were significantly higher than freshmen, and the scores of the science students were significantly lower than students of the liberal art, as well as students of art and P.E.(3) Significant differences of speciality and grade were found in delay of behavior and lack of responsibility. In delay of behavior, scores of art and P.E.students were significantly higher than science students; in lack of responsibility, scores of art and P.E.students were significantly higher than science and liberal art students as well as medical students. The results suggested that science students do better than art and P.E.students in delay of behavior; while in lack of responsibility, science, liberal art and medical students were of higher responsibilities than art and P.E. students. In other dimensions, there were no significant differences in grade and speciality. There were no gender differences in the total procrastination and dimensions excluding indecisiveness and poor time management.(4) There was no significant gender difference in the total procrastination scores of College students. But in indecisiveness and poor time management, scores of females were significant higher than males.(5) The interactions between gender and grade in the total procrastination and various dimensions were not statistically significant. However, there were interactions between speciality and grade in decisiveness and lack of responsibility, and between speciality and gender in the dimension delay of behavior.(6) There were significantly positive correlations between procrastination and mental problems of college students, which suggested negative correlations between procrastination and the level of mental health. In total, the higher of the level of procrastination, the lower of the level of mental health, and vice versa.
