| The naturalist aesthetics ,based on the Chinese unbelieving and irreligious feeling. Taoism above worldly consideration(super-nihility) and nature-orientation as well as the Confucian self-sufficiency of subjective personalities, has a deep-rooted influence on Chinese surrealistic aesthetics. Once this aesthetic preference is extended to constitute the living fountainhead of Chinese painting, the treatment of space means pursing a sort of universally-established visible beauty well beyond description and a perfect harmony of the succinct languages and the rich connotations in the forms of "black" and "white". Chinese painting which aims at escaping out of something visible and returning to nothingness, is distinguished by the typical role of the blank space and untouched sections by which create a special pleasing charm and a rhythmic structure in a style of implicit Taoist appeal .Black space is traditionally considered as a very way to LaoZi's proposition: "Something and Nothing produce each other". This means that the white and the black are mutually dependent for their existence and that the blank space has also hidden meaning which is consistent with the idea of conserving momentum. The blank space of the painting as "nothing" is considered to be even more essential than the densely drawn sections and subject itself marked with the visible brushstrokes as "something". In this sense, when wielding the brush pen ,we are creating the visible images as "something" by striving to create invisible background space as "nothing", just as what is called "Great sages prefer to taste nothingness ", "Grand images takes no sharp", " the most pleasant melody tends to be silent", "Surprising ingenuity usually lies in empty ", "Superb beauty always speechless" and "Getting close to Tao (universally-established true way)through techniques", "spectacular tone". Therefore ,the treatment of the blank space, as a fundamental section of composition and a sort of the most tasteful form language, presents both the inner beauty of Chinese painting and the spirit of the fine tradition. Also, is regarded as "painting inside painting ", the blank space is used to express the aesthetic implication and aesthetic traits, the blank space, in the form of highest -level of aesthetic values and the most decisive essence of Chinese art, stands for the philosophy of Chinese art and the distinctive ethnic characteristic reflecting the ideas of Confucian, Taoism and Buddhism as a whole. |
