Traditional Chinese landscape painting has a capacity of infinities within limited forms, that is, to use the way of blank space and limited concrete"blackness"and infinite abstract"whiteness". Blackness is important in Landscape Painting. Because"Blank Space"is very important in Traditional Chinese Landscape Painting.I want to select"Blank Space"to be my phrase meaning.The blank space can provide appreciators rich imagination, and it makes the painting more thoughtful and tasteful."White instead of black in painting"is one typical method in landscape paintings. The vacancy is made painted, and limited painting creates infinite artistic conception via the echo of emptiness and solidarity. The aesthetic view and value judgment of Chinese painting were affected directly by the Philosophy of Lao-Tzu and Chuang-Tzu, which resulted in the formation of new art form such as mutualism of blankness and fullness and beauty from blankness. Chinese painting puts emphasis on spiritual and artistic conceptions, and conceptual similarity, while as one treat of artistic conception, blank space is the right creation of it.As to the issues on blank space and artistic conception of traditional Chinese painting are odds and ends before and now, and there is a lack of an overall discussion on the creation of artistic conception by blank space. The value of blank space is discussed through the ways as philosophy, cognition and psychology. It makes a deeper understanding of blank space of thought, arts and science and to be helpful to hold the aesthetic mores. It also explains why blank space can build conceptions and how to build with this peculiar method so as to make it of active significance and deep feelings in paintings.
