The Images Of Napoleon In French History Paintings

This thesis is about the imagines of Napoleon in French history paintings.I through research the relative paintings and find out the creative situations of French history paintings in Napoleon age.There are three detailed analytic parts in this thesis that tell us why there had different creative appearances on same subject about Napoleon.First, the analysis of Napoleon portraits;Second,the research of political subjects;Third,probe into the war subjects.The main clue,furthermore, is the influence of two styles- Neoclassicism and Romanticism,what influence the different artists and different creative outlooks.In the field of history paintings they have different value and different emphasis as well as the distinction among the artists themselves.All of these lead to the diversity of history paintings at that time.The main masters be involved in this thesis are David, Delaroche, Ingres,Gros and Gerard etc.Through compare with their works and make an in-depth analysis of different creative styles summarize the experience,and use the experience for reference,at the same time,realize their mistakes and propose that avoide them in the course of our creation.It is the aim of this thesis.
