A Study On The Rhymes Of Three Well-known Writers' Lv Fu(律赋) In Late Tang Dynasty

Wang Qi, Huang Tao and Xu Yin, which are well-known as Lv Fu writers in late Tang Dynasty. They are good at Literature, especially at lv fu, leaving a great deal of excellent verses. These articles are mostly narrative, lyricizing, description, holding the mirror up to life and actuality. And they all are writers in Fujian in late Tang Dynasty, so they are called"Min jun"(闽军) by literary world. At the present time, the researches on them are mostly from literary angle, but there are rarely researches on their rhymes from the history of phonetic. The paper take the history of phonetic as the subject of our study, trying to sum up the rhyming system of their verses, inspect the rhyming feature in their verses and provide some valuable database for the study of the phonetic system and local accent system.The whole paper can be divided into five major parts.Chapter I: Brief Introduction.The chapter includes a brief introduction to the three writers'autobiography, works and their position in the history of literature; a simple account of the research situation on the study of the rhyme in verses, the purpose and the methods of this paper; and a confirmation of the volumes selected and the number of verses selected.Chapter II: the Rhyming Categories of the Three Writers.This chapter defines the stylistic of poesy firstly, and condescendes upon the phenomena of special interchangeable rhymes. Then, by a thorough relation and investigation of the three well-known writers'verses, 21 rhyming categories in their verses can be classified. Among them, there are 6 categories of Yin Sheng rhyme, 7 categories of Yang Sheng rhyme and 8 categories of Ru Sheng rhyme. We show the phonetic relationship of different rhyming system in each rhyming categories one by one by table. Under the table, we show some rhyming examples of theirs (mainly verses) , the explanation on the representation of part rhyming categories, and some special rhyming characters in part rhyming categories. ChapterIII: the Special Rhyming Feature in Their Verses.This chapter makes a research on the special rhyming feature of theirs mainly from the rhyming categories and tones, including the interchangeable rhymes among different rhyming categories and different tones. Among them, the interchangeable rhymes among different rhyming categories can be classified four types: the interchangeable rhymes among Yin Sheng rhymes; the interchangeable rhymes among Yang Sheng rhymes; the interchangeable rhymes among Ru Sheng rhymes; and the interchangeable rhymes between Yin Sheng rhymes and Ru Sheng rhymes. Addition, the interchangeable rhymes among different tones can be categorized three types: the interchangeable rhymes of the falling-rising tone; the interchangeable rhymes of the lever-rising tone; the interchangeable rhymes of the falling-lever tone. These special rhyming ferture can reflect the phonetic phenomena of Min dialect (闽方言) in middle ancient phonetic, and provide some valuable reference media for the study of the history of dialect.Chapter IV: Yi wen (异文) correction.The so called Yi wen in this chapter means the different characters in different sentences, causing by putting in circulation and copying of books, or the volumes selected. It is subordinate to the categories of article and correction, from the angle of the rhymes of poems and verses.Chapter V: Conclusions.Through the above analysis, we find that the three writers have a common phonetic system. And that is, the common rhyming system including 21 rhyming categories. This system and the 18 rhyming categories in Song Dynasty common rhyming system scrutinized by Lu Guoyao, near comparatively. Although there are some common in the three writers'rhyming, they have different characteristics in each person's rhyming. On the different style of poesy, the rhyming of poem is more stricter than the one of verses; On the using of unicom rhyming characters, the relationship between these characters a nd JiYun(集韵) are more closely, for example, Yi(迤),Si(鸶),Ya(涯),Shan(膻). The three writers all using dialect, and the interchangeable rhymes among different rhyming categories somely revealed the Fujian dialect feature in late Tang Dynasty. On their rhyming feature, the phonetic of Huang Tao and Xu Yin more closely near the modern Minnan (闽南) dialect (Xiamen dialect and Chaozhou dialect). Nevertheless the dialect of Wang Qi is more closely Mindong(闽东) dialect and Minbei(闽北) dialect.
